Safety in the Storm

Hello There!!!

So I'm doing better at posting!
I just had a thought come to me about storms in life and how we can find safety.
There are some pretty crazy storms we face in life, even more than just the physical storms of floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, fires, blizzards, etc. We face storms in life of pain, hurt feelings, offence, anger, moving, depression, anxiety, death of a loved one, and the list could go on!

I know for myself I have often questioned the "why?" for the trials or storms that I have faced. I've thought many times that maybe what I was given was to much and that I should give up. Or have asked why it is that me and family was given such hard battles to fight. We look straight into the rain and the wind that whips around us and get discouraged about the trials we face.

And as I have asked these questions I have been drawn again and again to the Saviour Jesus Christ, because it is only through Him that my family and I have been able to come out on top again and again in the trials we have faced.

There is a poem I heard when I was little that I can only remember a little bit of now (if anyone has the poem PLEASE let me know I would love to get it!)
There is a line that says, "from the strongest winds grow the strongest trees,"
I see my life and my experiences as a testimony of that.
I know there is a way that we can all in the end come through our storms smiling and asking "That's it?" We are so much stronger than we think, and that is because of Jesus Christ.
Never get discouraged because of the trials that you face. God gives some of His toughest warriors the hardest battles.
Last night at a supper appointment with a member, Sister Varey said this, "There is no use in giving up, if we give up Satan wins."
The Safety in the Storm is found through Jesus Christ's restored gospel, it is found through His Atonement, and if we endure to the end we will have peace and safety.

  1. “Good Timber” by Douglas Malloch

    Good Timber

    by Douglas Malloch

The tree that never had to fight
For sun and sky and air and light,
But stood out in the open plain
And always got its share of rain,
    Never became a forest king
But lived and died a scrubby thing.

The man who never had to toil
To gain and farm his patch of soil,
Who never had to win his share
Of sun and sky and light and air,
    Never became a manly man
But lived and died as he began.

Good timber does not grow with ease:
    The stronger wind, the stronger trees;
    The further sky, the greater length;
The more the storm, the more the strength.
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In trees and men good timbers grow.

Where thickest lies the forest growth,
We find the patriarchs of both.
And they hold counsel with the stars
Whose broken branches show the scars
Of many winds and much of strife.
This is the common law of life.
